「chrome://plugins」が「このサイトにアクセスできません（ERR_INVALID_URL）」エラーになる原因と対策について

「chrome://plugins」ページを開こうとしたところ、次のエラーが表示されてしまいました。

chrome://plugins/ のウェブページは一時的に停止しているか、新しいウェブアドレスに移動した可能性があります。
ERR_INVALID_URL

「chrome://○○」というURLは、Chromeの内部情報を確認したり、開発者向けの高度な設定を変更する際に利用する、Chrome専用のURLです。

実は、Chromeで利用可能なそれらのURLを一覧できるURLとして「chrome://chrome-urls」が用意されています。

そこで表示されたのは、以下のURLです。

かなりたくさんのURLがありますが、ここにchrome://pluginsがありません。

調べてみると、Google Chrome Help Forumに次の書き込みがありました。

Welcome to the Chrome community. According to our team, the plugins link was removed in Chrome 57 and above since a majority of the information on this page is no longer relevant and outdated. More information about this is on our public bug tracker and see the first comment about rationale and supporting rationale to show the reasons why the team decided to remove this page. （引用元）

どうやら、Chrome 57のアップデートにより、chrome://pluginsのページ自体が削除されたようです。

この背景には、そもそもあのプラグインページに表示する項目数が減っており、残った設定については、別の場所に移せば良いよね、という変更があったようです。

Objective: Remove the chrome://plugins page, moving configuration for the last remaining plugin, Flash Player, to it's own explicit place in content settings (including an option, in settings, to disable). （引用元）

Flash Playerの設定など、残った設定項目は、通常のChromeの設定の「詳細設定を表示...」を開いたところにある「プライバシー＞コンテンツの設定」に移動になっています（chrome://settings/content）。

chrome://plugins 以前はよく開いていましたがだんだん登場機会は減り、いつの間にやら消えてしまっていたようです。

今回、chrome://pluginsを見に行ってしまったのですが、Widevineという項目を見たかった自分の場合、chrome://componentsを見るべきでした。Widevine Content Decryption Module - バージョン: 1.4.8.970。
