【Google Search Console】英語メール「Remove all Google+ web integrations」の配信と内容に関する注意点

現在配信が開始されているのは、次のメールで、「Google Search Console Team（sc-noreply@google.com）」という送信元から届きます：

Google has announced that Google+ for consumers will be sunset. As part of the sunset, all Google+ web integrations will stop serving on March 7, 2019. This has the potential to affect website layouts and/or functionality if no action is taken by website owners.

Developers are strongly advised to remove related code from their websites as soon as possible.

Recommended action:
Remove all integration with Google+

Find and remove all references to Google+ integrations. Some examples include buttons (such as +1 buttons, Follow buttons, Hangouts buttons, and share buttons), badges, and interactive posts.

まずこのメールですが、「Google Search Console Team」から届いたことで、「Google Search Console」に関連する設定の話かな？と思ってしまうかもしれません。しかしこちらは、Google Search Consoleで管理しているウェブサイト側での対応を推奨するメールであり、「Google SearchのGoogle+の機能は使っていないから関係ない」という話ではなく、自分の運営しているウェブサイトがGoogle+連携機能（Google+ web integration）を使っているかどうかが問題となります。

このメールでは、運営中のウェブサイトから、Google+連携機能、つまり「+1ボタン」や「シェアボタン」など、Google+の存在を前提とした機能を除去するように、とアナウンスしています。

そのままにしておくとどうなるかについては、ウェブサイトのレイアウトや機能に影響が出る可能性がある、としています。

つまり今後Google+の+1ボタンが機能しなくなったとき、例えば現在の表示とは異なり「利用できません」のような表示に切り替わってしまうかもしれません。そうしたとき、サイトによってはボタンのサイズが変わってレイアウトが崩れてしまったり、ボタンが存在することを前提にして書かれたJavaScriptがあったとしれば、そちらが壊れてしまい、他の機能にも影響が及ぶ可能性もあります。

ではその対応をいつまでに行う必要があるかと言えば、実はGoogle+の終了日（2019年4月2日）ではありません。

それよりも１ヶ月近く早い、2019年3月7日(木)（March 7, 2019）とされています。正確な日本時間での終了時刻は不明ですが（一般にこのような場合、実際には3月7日以降に順次終了、のような形になる場合があり、正確な終了日時は読みにくい）、その前日までには対応しておくことが好ましいかと思います。少なくとも、4月2日ではない点に注意しておいてください。
